Yale University is an American private Ivy League research university in New Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1701, it is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and one of the nine Colonial Colleges chartered before the American Revolution.
It was established by clergy in Saybrook Colony to educate Congregational ministers.
It moved to New Haven in 1716 and shortly after was renamed Yale College in recognition of a gift from British East India Company governor Elihu Yale.

Paul Robin Krugman is an American economist who is currently a Distinguished Professor of Economics at the University of New York, MIT, Princeton University, London School of Economics and a columnist for The New York Times.
In 2008, Krugman was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Krugman earned his B.A. in economics from Yale University in 1974 and went on to pursue a PhD in Economics from MIT In 1977.
Raymond “Ray” Davis Jr.
Raymond “Ray” Davis Jr. was an American chemist and physicist. He is best known as the leader of the Homestake experiment in the 1960s-1980s, which was the first experiment to detect neutrinos emitted from the Sun; for this, he shared the 2002 Nobel Prize in Physics.
He received a master’s degree from that school and a Ph.D. from Yale University in physical chemistry in 1942. He died in 2006.
Henry Ford II
Henry Ford II sometimes was the eldest son of Edsel Ford and the eldest grandson of Henry Ford. He was president of the Ford Motor Company from 1945 to 1960, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO).

Harvey Williams Cushing was an American neurosurgeon, pathologist, writer, and draftsman. A pioneer of brain surgery, he was the first exclusive neurosurgeon and the first person to describe Cushing’s disease.
He graduated with an A.B. degree in 1891 from Yale University and Harvard Medical School in 1895.
Warren Sturgis McCulloch
Warren Sturgis McCulloch was an American neurophysiologist and cybernetician, known for his work on brain theories and cybernetics movement. He graduated from Haverford College and Yale University where he studied philosophy and psychology in 1921.
He also worked at Yale University and later at the University of Chicago. He died in Cambridge in 1969.
John Kenneth Ousterhout
John Kenneth Ousterhout is the chairman of Electric Cloud, Inc. and a professor of computer science at Stanford University and the University of California. He created the Tcl scripting language, Tk platform-independent widget toolkit and authored Magic VLSI computer-aided design (CAD) program.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Yale University in 1975, and his Ph.D. in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University in 1980.
Grace Brewster Murray Hopper
Grace Brewster Murray Hopper was an American computer scientist and United States Navy rear admiral. One of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I the computer, she invented the idea of machine-independent programming languages, which evolved into COBOL.
She earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. in mathematics at Yale University in 1930 and 1934 respectively. A college at Yale University was renamed in her honor. She died in 1992.
Elmer Verner McCollum
Elmer Verner McCollum was an American biochemist known for his work on the influence of diet on health. McCollum is also remembered for starting the first art colony in the United States to be used for nutrition research.
He secured a scholarship to Yale University in 1904. McCollum got his Ph.D. from Yale in two years. He died in 1967.

John Caldwell Calhoun
John Caldwell Calhoun was an American statesman and political theorist from South Carolina, and the seventh Vice President of the United States from 1825 to 1832.
He is remembered for strongly defending slavery and for advancing the concept of minority rights in politics, which he did in the context of defending white Southern interests from perceived Northern threats.
John Caldwell Calhoun went to Yale College in Connecticut in 1802. Calhoun died in 1850.
Karl Carstens
Karl Carstens was a German politician. He served as President of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) from 1979 to 1984.
He studied law and political science at the universities of Frankfurt, Dijon, Munich, Königsberg, and Hamburg from 1933 to 1936, gaining a doctorate in 1938 and taking the Second Staatsexamen degree in 1939.
In 1949, he also received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Yale Law School. He died in 1992.

Richard Bruce Cheney is an American politician and businessman who served as the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009.
Prior to that, he was intern for Congressman William A. Steiger, White House Chief of Staff, U.S. House of Representatives member, House Minority Whip, and a Secretary of Defence.
Cheney was the Chairman and CEO of Halliburton Company from 1995 to 2000.

Tansu Çiller is a Turkish academic, economist, and politician who served as the 22nd Prime Minister of Turkey from 1993 to 1996. She is Turkey’s first and only female prime minister to date.
Basically, she went on to concurrently serve as Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey and as Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1996 and 1997 and now works in the now-defunct Istanbul Bank as president of the company.

Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. was an American politician who was the 38th President of the United States, after the resignation of Richard Nixon.
Before then, he served as a Naval Reserve lieutenant commander, a House Minority Leader, a Michigan District congressman and the 40th Vice President of the United States following the resignation of Spiro Agnew under the terms of the 25th Amendment.
Ford attended the University of Michigan and Yale Law School where he obtained an LL.B. in 1941. He died in 2006.

José P. Laurel
José P. Laurel was a Filipino politician and judge. He was the president of the Second Philippine Republic, a Japanese puppet state when occupied during World War II, from 1943 to 1945.
Laurel received his law degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law in 1915. He then obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1919.
Laurel then attended Yale Law School, where he obtained his J.S.D. degree. He died in 1959.
Salvador Roman Hidalgo Laurel
Salvador Roman Hidalgo Laurel was a Filipino lawyer and politician who was Vice-President of the Philippines from 1986 to 1992 under President Corazon Aquino and briefly served as Prime Minister in 1986. Laurel is the fifth son of President José P. Laurel of the Second Philippine Republic.
He received his LLB (Bachelor of Laws), a degree in UP in 1952 and Yale University, his father’s alma mater where he earned his Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in 1953. He earned the title Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D.) at Yale University in 1960. He died in 2004.

Lee Hong-Koo is a former Korean academic, politician, and think tank leader who served as a former Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, former South Korean Ambassador to the United Kingdom and the United States, and founding Chairman of the East Asia Institute in Seoul.

William Howard Taft
William Howard Taft was the 27th President of the United States (1909–1913) and the tenth Chief Justice of the United States (1921–1930), the only person to have held both offices.
Prior to that, he was the judge of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, a civilian governor of the Philippines and Secretary of War, Taft was elected president in 1908, the chosen successor of Theodore Roosevelt.

Sonia Maria Sotomayor
Sonia Maria Sotomayor is a Puerto Rican-born Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, appointed by President Barack Obama in May 2009 and confirmed in August 2009. She has the distinction of being its first justice of Hispanic descent and the first Latina.[4]

Clarence Thomas
Clarence Thomas is an American judge, lawyer, and government official who currently serves as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Thomas succeeded Thurgood Marshall and is the second African American to serve on the court.
In 1974, he was appointed an Assistant Attorney General in Missouri and subsequently practiced law there in the private sector. In 1981 was appointed Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education.
In 1982, President Ronald Reagan appointed Thomas Chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Thomas was educated at the College of the Holy Cross and at Yale Law School from which he received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1974.

He enrolled at Yale College, where his paternal grandfather, Rev. James Smith Bush (class of 1844). He died in 1972.
William Samuel Johnson
William Samuel Johnson was an early American statesman who was notable for signing the United States Constitution, for representing Connecticut in the United States Senate, and for serving as the third president of King’s College now known as Columbia University.
Johnson received his primary education at home. He then graduated from Yale College in 1744, going on to receive a master’s degree from his alma mater in 1747 (as well as an honorary degree from Harvard the same year). Johnson died in 1819.

John Forbes Kerry
John Forbes Kerry is an American politician who served as the 68th United States Secretary of State from 2013 to 2017. A Democrat, he previously represented Massachusetts in the United States Senate from 1985 to 2013.
He was the Democratic nominee in the 2004 presidential election, losing to Republican incumbent George W. Bush.
Also, he worked as a Naval Reserve, an Assistant District Attorney in Massachusetts, Lieutenant Governor under Michael Dukakis, before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 1984.

Jonathan Edwards
Jonathan Edwards was an American revivalist preacher, philosopher, and Congregationalist Protestant theologian. Like most of the Puritans, he held to the Reformed theology.
Edwards is widely regarded as “one of America’s most important and original philosophical theologians”. Also, Edwards’ theological work is broad in scope, but he was rooted in Reformed theology, the metaphysics of theological determinism, and the Puritan heritage.
Edwards died in 1758 from a smallpox inoculation shortly after beginning the presidency at the College of New Jersey (Princeton).
He was the grandfather of Aaron Burr, third Vice President of the United States. He entered Yale College in 1716, at just under the age of 13.
William Livingston
William Livingston was an American politician who served as the Governor of New Jersey(1776–1790) during the American Revolutionary War and was a signer of the United States Constitution.
Livingston received his early education from local schools and tutors. At age 13, Livingston was sent to live for a year and prepare for college with the Anglican missionary catechist and Yale College graduate Henry Barclay who lived among the Iroquois Indians in the Mohawk Valley at Fort Hunter.
Livingston enrolled at Yale in 1737 and graduated in 1741. He went on to New York City, where he studied law and became a law clerk first for the eminent lawyer James Alexander.
He left Alexander’s office in the spring of 1746 before finishing his apprentice due to some disagreement, and joined the office William Smith, Sr. William Livingston died in 1790.
