In particular, our mission is to make a difference in the lives of APIA students. Specifically, by providing them with resources that facilitate access to higher education. However, which serves as the foundation for their future success and contributions to a stronger United States America.

The Asian Pacific Islander Scholarship was created in 2017 by members of the Asian Pacific Islander Collective and the Asian Student Community. In order to alleviate financial barriers to higher education for A/PI students.

Not only the first-generation college students,  native/indigenous to the islands of Micronesia, Melanesia, or Polynesia, but also undocumented, disabled, and/or facing other significant barriers to the cost of a Puget Sound education.

In addition, the scholarship gives preference to students who self-identify as Asian or Pacific Islander. Also, those who are in fair academic standing, and demonstrate leadership or community involvement.

Furthermore, all students who identify as Asian/Pacific Islanders are eligible for this scholarship even if they do not hold the aforementioned intersections of identities.

Also, the founding scholarship members wish to acknowledge multiracial, multiethnic, and adopted students who may feel that they do not “belong”. To either label of ‘Asian’ or ‘Pacific Islander.’ Multiracial, multiethnic, and adopted students of Asian descent all qualify for this scholarship.
