45 Bible Verses About Learning & Education That Will Surprise You

February 5, 2023 by Ajah_Excel

As much as we take education seriously, God desires that you excel in your teaching. This means He wants you to have your education in a godly manner. That is why in the bible, there are verses that talk about learning and teaching.

And this is the first guide every Christian student must abide by. Hence, in this article, you will learn all the bible verses and scriptures about education and learning that will surprise you.

As Christians, God must be at the center of our lives, meaning we must consider Him in everything we do. Now that you leave college in a few months let’s see what the Bible says about continuing your education.

This list of bible scriptures and verses about learning and education will help you through your stay at school.

Since the Bible is sufficient to equip us to live a life of godliness, this must also include education matters. We must have a high vision of education because God does too.

God knows everything and has created elaborate laws governing physics, biology, and mathematics. We glorify Him by investing in a solid education. But what does the Bible say about education? First, we can see that the Bible is intended to be educational.

What Does The Bible Say About Education?

Some people regard education as a treatment for the evils of society. Education, however, accomplishes little in its own right to combat impiety.

While Christians approach education from different angles and come to diverse conclusions, the Bible offers clear answers to concerns such as who is responsible, what curricula are to be focused on, and how the educational goals and results are to be achieved.

This might sound odd to some. However, let’s look at what the Bible says about your education in school or online learning platforms.

Paul was a well-schooled guy, and he was at his day’s best Jewish school (Acts 22:3), and he spent his education skillfully communicating with people from all cultures (Acts 17:28; Titus 1:12).

But Paul was not sanctified by his education (1 Timothy 1:16), and he warned against those who “came to the knowledge of truth and to know it always and never” (2 Timothy 3:7). Knowing facts does not make you better. You are a highly educated fool, indeed.

The apostle Paul uses in Romans eleven times the word know or knowing. What should we know? How to apply the Word of God in education.

When we gain spiritual understanding and put it into practice, in spirit and truth, we serve the Lord (Romans 6:11-13). Theology was termed the “queen of the sciences” because our understanding of God informs all other fields of education.

The Bible also highlighted that Christians “Study to show thyself approved unto God” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV). The NIV makes this verse, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

These are just a few where the bible highlights how important it’s to put the word of God into practice in our learning and education. To get the most from scriptural reading, you must learn the best way to study the Bible.

Bible Verses about Education Success

In terms of status and finances, we frequently think of being a success. But success implies doing everything very well, and we could choose to succeed in many other goals, including our education.

Your success in school is one fact God holds in high esteem, and He desires that you prosper above all things.

While we fix our minds on this, let’s see what the Bible says about our education success in school.

Even Solomon informs us that the fear of the Lord is the foundation of all real knowledge (Proverbs 1:7). The term fear does not contain the sense of fear but awe and reverence for God’s holiness and grandeur and an unwillingness to reject or disobey Him. Jesus said the truth would free us if we know the truth (John 8:32). Free from fear comes through truth-learning.

#12. Philippians 3:13-14

“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

#13. Colossians 3:23-24

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

#17. Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Bible Verses That Teaches You the Importance of Wisdom

I have been in a bible study where I was taught about Wisdom and knowledge. I was moved to ask; which of these is so important for a Christian living?

The response I got made to understand that the Bible teaches us that having knowledge is simply not enough. Basically, Wisdom is knowing the facts about things. But wisdom comes only from God. Wisdom has three aspects: knowing the truth of God, understanding the truth of God, and how to apply the truth of God.

However, wisdom is not limited to following “the rules”. Wisdom involves acting in accordance with the spirit of God’s commandments, not just seeking an escape. With wisdom comes the will and the courage to continue living according to the wisdom of God.

#26. Ecclesiastes 9:18

“Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good.”

#27. Proverbs 4:13

“Take hold of instruction, do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.”

#28. Ecclesiastes 7:19

“Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten rulers of the city.”

#30. Colossians 1:28

“We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.”

#31. Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

#32. Proverbs 4:6-7

“Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

#33. Proverbs 3:13

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.”

#34. Proverbs 3:14

“For her profit is better than the profit of silver, and her gain better than fine gold.”

#35. Proverbs 9:9

“Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.”

Bible Verses about Scholarship

Students are able to get an education through scholarships. Students may have difficulty paying for the degree without help from an external source.

Stipends assist students to concentrate on their study more time. Hence, it’s God’s will that you enjoy thses benefits.

Here is what the bible says about scholarship:

#38. Daniel 1:17-20 ESV

“As for these four youths, God gave them learning and skill in all literature and wisdom, and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. At the end of the time, when the king had commanded that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. And the king spoke with them, and among all of them none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood before the king. And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom.”

#39. 1 Corinthians 2:10-12

“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.”

#40. 1 Corinthians 1:26-31

“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.

#41. 1 Corinthians 2:16

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

#44. 1 John 4:5-6

“They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this, we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”
