The Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering, is a public engineering university located in New Delhi, India. It is Delhi’s first engineering college and one of the oldest engineering colleges in India.

It was established in 1941 by the Government of India, as Delhi Polytechnic.

The college was affiliated with the University of Delhi from 1952 to 2009 and has been under the government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi since 1963.

But in 2009, the college was given the status of a state university, thus changing its name to Delhi Technological University.

Until 2009, the Delhi Technological University shared its admission procedure and syllabus for various B.E courses which were prescribed by Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi, with the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (formerly known as DIT).

The Delhi Technological University has a total of 8,356 students, with an undergraduate population of 6,323 a postgraduate population of 1,805 and about 228 Doctoral students.

The university has an urban campus and Brown and White as it’s official colours. The Delhi Technological University has an official website, www.dtu.ac.in.

It offers courses towards Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A).

The university houses fourteen academic departments with a strong emphasis on scientific research and technological education.

The Delhi Technological University is stationed on a 164 acres campus at Bawana Road. The lush green campus is well connected by road.

With facilities such as a library, a computer center, a sports complex, an auditorium, an open-air theater and residential facilities for faculty and staff.

Which includes eight boys’ hostels, six girls’ hostels, and a married couples’ hostel. The Delhi Technological University has an additional campus in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi, which offers non-engineering courses.

The new campus currently offers courses in MBA, BBA, and a BA in Economics. It is also known as the University School of Management and Entrepreneurship.

The admission to these courses is Merit Based. There are 120 seats for BBA and BA(hons) Economics each and there are 60 seats for MBA students whose selection procedure is same as DSM.

The admission towards a full-time Bachelor of Engineering degree into the Delhi Technological University is through the Joint Admission Counselling Delhi (JAC-Delhi) process, together with Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology.

Admission for foreign students is processed through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme. Admission to the B.Tech. (Lateral Entry) Programme is based on the score secured by  candidates in the State Diploma Examination. Admissions to the evening studies probramme is based on a Common Entrance Examination.

Admissions in MBA program are based on Common Admission Test (CAT) exam, followed by a group discussion and an interview. Admission towards a postgraduate degree is based on performance in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) qualifying exam.

If two or more candidates have the same GATE score, then percentage in qualifying undergraduate course shall decide the merit.

No separate test or interview is conducted by the university. However, for the NRIs, Foreign Nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) the admission is made on the basis of merit/score in Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The medium of instruction for all the courses at the university is English.

Courses are offered towards Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Bachelor of Arts(Hons) Economics, Master of Technology (M.Tech.), Master of Science (M.Sc.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.),Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.).

Students can participate in projects such as design and development of a Formula SAE car, SAE Mini Baja, ASME HPV, Hybrid Car, solar car, unmanned aerial vehicles, innovative embedded devices appreciated worldwide and setting up a plant for manufacturing Biodiesel.

The Delhi Technological University has it’s students team up to participate in international and national competition and actively collaborate with universities from other countries. The Delhi College of Engineering is one of the TIFAC COREs (Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council’s Centres Of Relevance & Excellence) in Fiber Optics and Optical Communication.

Also, Students of Delhi College of Engineering have made it top 15 Worldwide slots in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2007 and 2008. The technical team UAS-DTU has been exceptionally successful, designing and building a prototype UAV, the Aarush X-1 with funding and mentorship from Lockheed Martin, USA.

It also stood third in the AUVSI Student Unmanned Air System (SUAS) Competition,2012  The team has developed several prototype UAVs and expands its UAV count each year.

The campus at the Delhi Technological University has been proposed as one of the sites for the Delhi Government’s plan of creating Delhi a Research and IT hub.

A Knowledge Park at the Delhi Technological University has been set up as part of better infrastructure for Delhi and had been selected by Intel Technology Pvt. Ltd. to join Planet Lab Consortium that has the world’s top universities and industrial research labs like Princeton University, University of Washington and NEC Labs as its members.

The Delhi Technological University organizes various events/conferences/seminars throughout the year so that students from other Engineering institutes/organisation’s can also get benefited. Societies like ASME, SAE, IEEE, IET, MACS etc. frequently organise such events.

Among other Indian engineering colleges, Delhi Technological University ranked 41 by NIRF in 2018 and 70 among other Indian universities.

Scholarships are available for students beginning their first year at the college, and are awarded on the basis of their performance in subjects. Another award is given to two final year students on the basis of merit, sponsoring their tuition for the purpose of pursuing MBA at the Raj Soin College of Business, Wright State University.

The Delhi Technological University provides 100% placements. Approximately 60-70% of the students get placed every year. More than 150 reputable domestic and international companies such as Airtel, Uber and Microsoft come to the college for the placements. The average package offered to the students of DTU varies according to the branch, though relevant skills play a vital role during the interview process.

For the academic year 2018-2019, DTU will admit eligible candidates for its engineering courses (BTech ) based on their scores of JEE Main 2018.

The JAC Delhi 2018 Application or Admission Form will be starts from 15 June.


DTU 2018 Important Dates: JAC Delhi

Online Registration and Choice Filling starts on the 15th of June 2018. The Last date to pay registration-cum-counselling fee (Through net banking/credit/debit card) is on the 23rd of June 2018 till 5 pm. The Registration and choice filling ends on the 23rd of June 2018 till 11.59 pm.  The Document Verification for defence (all institutes) and IIIT D bonus marks starts on the 25th of June 2018.

Round I of the Seat Allotment ends on the 27th of June 2018 after 5 pm. The Document verification exercise will run from the 28th of June to the 2nd of July 2018. Round II of the Seat Allotment ends on the 3rd of July 2018 after 5 pm.

The Document verification exercise will run from the 4th to the 6th of July 2018. Round III of the Seat Allotment ends on the 9th of July 2018 after 5 pm.

The Document verification  will run from the 11th to the 12th of July 2018. Round IV of the Seat Allotment will end on the 13th of July 2018 after 5 pm. The Document verification will end on the 16th of July 2018.

The Document verification will end on the 22nd of July 2018. The Deadline for Withdrawal of Admission is on the 22nd of July 2018. The Spot Round will run from the 23rd to the 26th of July 2018.

DTU 2018 Application Form (JAC Delhi 2018)

The Delhi Technological University will not conduct any entrance examination for its 2018 admission process as selection will be based on JEE Main score and rank only.

Applicants can apply for DTU Admission 2018 only after qualifying through the JEE Mains 2018. Application forms will be issued online only (no offline mode is available) and the students must fill up their DTU 2018 form for BTech admissions from the official web portal of Delhi Technological University.

Delhi Technological University will invite applications for various courses like B.Tech (NRI/ FN/ PIO), B.Tech (Evening / LE), etc. The estimated time required to complete registration process is 15 mins.

Steps for filling up of DTU application form online:

Candidates should visit the official website of DTU B.Tech admission. Register and get their user ID and password, then they will have to fill up all the mandatory fields required with information that is asked for, like name, category, age, date of birth (DOB), 10+2 marks, email ID etc. The candidates must upload the required scanned images of their photograph and signature and submit the form proceeding towards application fee payment. Students must take a print out of the application form for all future references and administration procedures.

Required documents for DTU 2018 registration are as follows; Class 10 Marksheet, Class 12 Mark sheet–(those who have passed the exam already), Category Certificate (OBC/SC/ST), Applicant’s valid Email ID, Candidate’s Valid Mobile no., Applicant’s Passport Size Photograph (.JPEG), Thumb Impression and Applicant’s Signature

DTU Important Exam Update

Before beginning the registration process, the candidates must be ready with all their necessary documents required for registration which includes candidate’s personal information, qualification details, last school details, a scanned photograph and  signature.

Delhi Technological University, Admit Card

Candidates will receive the DTU admit card on their registered email IDs and/or through SMS. Candidates need to log on to the admission portal of the university and take a print of their respective admit card. Then the candidates need to paste their self-attested passport size (colored) photograph on their admit card and carry the same to their test centre on the date of examination.

 

Delhi Technological University, Eligibility Criteria 2018:

Qualifying examination is a score of 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry from a recognized school located within NCT (National Capital Territory) of Delhi only. The required pass percentage is a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry passing each subject separately. Passing in English as a core or elective subject. JEE Main 2018 qualification is a minimum of 60% marks. The candidates should be of age within 17 to 25 years during admission.

 

Admission Process for Lateral Entry Courses

The candidates seeking admission to BTech Lateral Entry Programmes, must have passed a State Diploma Examination of three years duration in any branch. Or any other examination equivalent, recognized by the Delhi Technological University with a minimum aggregate (aggregate of all six semesters / three years) of 60% (50% for SC/ST and 55% for OBC candidate).Admissions are given to candidates on the basis of DTU LEET.

Admission Process for Foreign Nationals through DASA

For BTech. Courses, the admissions will be decided on the basis of SAT-II score of an applicant. The aspirant seeking admission need to have a minimum 60 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in Class 12 or equivalent examination and a minimum of 50 per cent SAT-II score to be eligible for a B.Tech. programme, provided he or she has passed in each subject separately.

For MTech. programmes, an applicant would need to have a minimum 60 per cent aggregate in BE, BTech. or equivalent examination and a valid GRE score. Selection will be made strictly on the basis of GRE score.

 

The Delhi Technological University Fee Structure:

Application fee payment can be done in two ways, either the candidate makes payment via HDFC bank challan obtainable from the official website of DTU. Or use Credit/debit card/net banking via HDFC Payment gateway service.

Selection Process:

Admission to Delhi Technological University for B.Tech streams for the academic session 2018-2018 will be done through counselling based on JEE Main 2018 scores. Candidates shortlisted through screening process will be invited to attend online counselling.

The admission process of DTU 2018 Application will progress in two steps which include; submission of counselling fee and filling up of the college name where the candidate wishes to take admission.

After the completion of these two steps, seat allotment will be done according to the marks obtained in JEE Mains 2018. On completion of the seat allotment process, candidates need to submit the required fees and report to their respective college/university for document verification and confirmation of their admission in that college/university.

Important documents to be brought during admission process include; Class 12thmark sheet, Migration certificate, Caste certificate if applicable, Transfer certificate, Identity proof, Character certificate, Recent passport size photographs, Class 10thcertificate stating date of birth, Domicile certificate, Certificate of medical fitness, School leaving certificate, Authority letter and Required admission and hostel fees

DTU Application Fee for all Courses

Faculties at DTU offering UG and PG programmes are the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Management Studies. A fee of Rs.1200 is charged.
