Scholarship Worth- How Much is the Indian Institute of Science Awards?

The value of the scholarship/fellowship per month for students enrolled in different programs of the Institute is as given below.

Ph.D. –   Rs. 31000/35000

M Tech (Res)    – Rs. 12400

M Tech/M Des  –  Rs. 12400

Integrated Ph.D. – Rs. 16000/31000/35000

Eligibility- Who Should Apply for the Indian Institute of Science Awards in India, 2023?

To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Students are awarded scholarships/fellowships from the date of joining the Institute. 
  • All the students who join the Institute (except for M Mgt program) are eligible for scholarships/ fellowships from CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/AICTE/DAE (NBHM)/ DST as the case may be.
  • Candidates admitted to M Mgt are not entitled to any scholarships. Awards from GE, INFOSYS, IBM, HP, TATA, PHILIPS, BELL LAB, MICROSOFT, Department of Electronics and Information Technology are available for deserving students.
  • Awards are provided for an entire period of 2 years in the case of M Tech and five years in the case of a Ph.D. from the date of commencement of the session.
  • Candidates who receive a salary from their Employers/Sponsors are not eligible for any scholarship.
  • Students who join the M Tech/ M Des programs agree, by default, that they will not leave the course midway. For unavoidable reasons/situations, they must refund the entire scholarship amount drawn by them before leaving the Institute.
  • Candidates admitted to the master of management are not entitled to any scholarships.

Admission Requirements: For being accepted in any degree program, claimants must meet the university’s entry requirements.

Language Requirement: It is desirable that winning participants must have good proficiency in the English language.

Furthermore, immediately on joining the Institute, the students must send the joining report within 15 days to the agencies concerned appropriately for activating their fellowships.

Such students are entitled to fellowship payment from the respective agencies’ sanction date. IISc provides MHRD scholarships/fellowships for selected students whose entry mode is GATE/JEST/JAM and ME/M Tech/M Sc(Engg) qualified.
