The fee is assessed on a per course basis, regardless of full-time or part-time student status. Statistically, it is assessed per course basis up to 16.1 credits per term. Therefore, tuition is assessed on a program basis for students taking the normal full-time course load in the fall and winter sessions. Students registered in the summer term are assessed tuition on a per-course basis. Fees for the summer that normally increase on May 1st each year are available on the Office of the University Registrar web site. The faculty will determine the unit fee through which the student is registered and completing a degree program. 

Queen’s University Domestic Undergraduate Tuition fee

Queen’s domestic undergraduate and professional programs are those undergraduate courses offered by Canadian citizens. According to a report from the  Office of the University Registrar, tuition rate varies from departments, units, and seasons it is within the range of $800- $11,806.70 per session.

Queen’s University International Undergraduate Tuition fee

This is the amount of International money students pay for tuition. It ranges from $715.00 $42,075.00 per session and also varies per department, unit and seasons.

For instance, tuition for all programs (except Law and Medicine) is assessed per unit. If you enroll in more or fewer units than the normal load, your tuition will be adjusted accordingly. Engineering and Applied Science Students are assessed on a per-unit basis of up to 16.1 units per term. The maximum per term tuition is equal to 1/2 of the tuition fee.

What is Queen’s University Graduate Program Tuition Rate?

QU’s graduate tuition fee falls under three categories; fall tuition, summer tuition, and winter tuition. This reflects the time of payment based on the time the student was admitted.

Furthermore, graduate students pay tuition fees for each term; the academic year consists of three four-month terms (Summer, Fall, Winter), except for a few students in special programs.

These fees vary. For instance, Graduate students assess tuition fees for each term, while In the exceptional case where a qualifying student is registered for fewer than three courses, fees are assessed on a part-time basis.

Also, Part-time, course-based programs are assessed based on course fees in place of term fees. While part-time students who have been part-time from the beginning pay half of the full-term fee till the completion of the degree.

Visiting research students do not pay tuition fees, rather they pay university health insurance plan fees (UHIP) and student activity fees.

In the case of a student who completes a program mid-term and wants to withdraw, the university partially refunds his or her tuition fee assessed for that term. Please note, the society of graduate and professional students (SPGS) health and dental plan fees can only be refunded by SPGS.

For readmitted students, tuition is assessed at the current rate per term for the number of terms away, to a maximum of 3 terms.  Afterward, students pay the appropriate term fee until they complete the program.
