Trust Conference Scholarship 2022 for Change Makers

The Trust Conference Changemakers program, formerly known as the Trust Conference Scholarship Program, is part of the Trust Conference to be held in London, the United Kingdom on the 13th and 14 November by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

The annual conference will bring together activists and human rights defenders from all over the world. In 2018, they received applications from 90 countries and selected changemakers with in-depth knowledge of the themes of the conference.

This year, up to 60 Trust Conference scholarships will be awarded to candidates from various disciplines who will bring their unique perspective and actively participate in the conference.

The Trust Conference Changemakers program funds frontline activists and human rights defenders from around the world to attend the annual conference.

In 2019, we received applications from 90 countries and selected Changemakers with expert knowledge of the topics of our conference.

Each year, we grant up to 60 scholarships to applicants from various disciplines who will contribute their unique perspectives and take action at the Confidence Conference.

About Trust Conference Changemakers Program

The Trust Conference Changemakers program offers access to an influential meeting of NGOs, corporate heads, lawyers, public servants, and philanthropists.

The Trust Conference Changemakers Programme provides access to an influential group of NGOs, business leaders, lawyers, public servants, and philanthropists.

Trust Conference is the main annual event of the Thomson Reuters Foundation and an important human rights forum. Held in the heart of London every year, the conference brings together some 600 delegates from various sectors representing more than 60 countries.

Past speakers have included the president and CEO of TIME’S UP, Tina Tchen, the executive editor of The New York Times, Dean Baquet, and the defender of disability and design, Sinéad Burke.

In 2022, the conference will take place on November 11 and 12. The first day will consider the state of media freedom worldwide and digital rights as the new frontier of human rights.

The second day will address what will be needed to create more inclusive economies, with a focus on women and LGBT + people, as well as the human impact of climate change.

Level/Field of Study

The scholarship is open to all applicants working and students in the areas of modern slavery, women’s rights and economic empowerment, refugee assistance and other human rights areas.

Host Nationality

The Thomson Reuters Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Thomson Reuters, the world’s biggest news and information provider.

The foundation is registered as an independent charity both in the UK and in the USA.

Eligible Nationality

The Thomson Reuters Foundation will award places to exceptional international applicants from across the world.

Eligibility

The Trust Conference Changemakers Programme is open to all applicants working in the areas of modern slavery, women’s rights and economic empowerment, refugee assistance and other human rights areas.

Priority will be given to applicants from developing countries who demonstrate that participation in the Conference will improve their work in their own communities.

Finally, applicants must speak English as it is the language of the conference, and may not have attended the conference with a scholarship.

Scholarship Worth

Selected/Successful applicants will receive the following benefits:

The selection will be based on a rating system developed by the Changemakers Program review committee. Selected applicants will use their scholarship (if applicable) to cover travel, visa and accommodation costs to attend the 2022 Trust Conference.

There are no more funds available to cover expenses. Support will be granted on three levels:

  • Ticket only: A non-transferable ticket to attend both days of the Confidence Conference
  • Partial scholarship: A non-transferable ticket to attend both days of the Trusted Conference and a £ 750 scholarship to help cover travel and accommodation expenses
  • Full scholarship: A non-transferable ticket to attend both days of the Trusted Conference and a grant of £ 1,250 to help cover travel and accommodation expenses
  • A day of specialized training and networking with other changemakers on November 12, 2022.
  • Free participation in the Trust Conference of November 13 and 14, 2022.
  • Their name and photo will be in the marketing documents of the Trust Conference and on the official website.
