A place of Spirituality can be attained only by consistency and being in the right environment. For a student who wants to study and still build his/her spiritual life, the University of Scranton can help you achieve that.

The University of Scranton is a Catholic and Jesuit university animated by the spiritual vision and the tradition of excellence characteristic of the Society of Jesus, including those who share its way of proceeding.

The institution, since 1888 it was established has been dedicated to the freedom of inquiry and personal development, which is fundamental to the growth in wisdom and integrity of all who share its life.

So in this article, I’m going to show some of the interesting details you’d need to know about the University of Scranton.

About University of Scranton

The University of Scranton is a private Jesuit university in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It was established as St. Thomas College in 1888 by William O’Hara, the first Bishop of Scranton.

Scranton University houses three colleges namely the College of Arts and Sciences, the Kania School of Management, and the Panuska College of Professional Studies.

However, these colleges put together offers 68 bachelor’s degree programs, 47 minors, and 38 concentrations and tracks in three undergraduate colleges, with most students pursuing degrees in health professions.

At the university also, new students can apply for financial aids which would come in form of grants, scholarships, or fellowships. And these financial aids are fully funded by the university.

In addition to the aids, students get the opportunity to engage with the community from orientation to graduation.

Currently, the university has approximately 6,000 graduate and undergraduate (3,910 undergraduates and 1512 graduates) students enrolled.

Most of these students are from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. And it has about 300 full-time faculty members, approximately 200 of which are tenured.

What is University of Scranton Admission Process Like?

The admission process at the University of Scranton is more detailed when compared with other universities in Sacranton.

Although it’s well detailed and its acceptance rate is high, you must follow all the required steps to the last for you to have a chance to get in.

To do that, pay rapt attention to these requirements:

  • SAT and ACT scores. (Between 1120-1310 for SAT and 24-29 for ACT score).
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • High GPA, which is very important.
  • Submitting your application before the deadline which is March 1.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must submit the following documents to be eligible for the University of Scranton graduate admissions:

University of Scranton’s tuition varies by program. That means, your tuition fees will depend on the degree program you want to choose.

For the Undergraduate programs, the cost includes:

  • Summer tuition, per credit – $597
  • Intersession tuition, per credit – $1,197

What is University of Scranton Acceptance Rate?

The acceptance rate at the University of Scranton is 75%. That’s higher than the rate at many schools, but still low enough to be considered somewhat selective.

If you want to get in, you’ll need good grades and to be able to show that Scranton is a good fit for you.

Available University of Scranton Scholarships?

Scholarships are forms of assistance the University of Scranton offers their students as a way of encouraging, especially the outstanding ones.

These scholarships are merit-based scholarships, which means, it covers both their tuition fees, accommodation, and textbook.

Apart from merit-based scholarships, they also have scholarships offered by federal, state, or outside sources.

Below are some of the scholarships and their eligible requirements:

#1. Presidential Scholarship

This merit-based, full-tuition scholarship is awarded for exemplary academic achievement to a limited number of qualified students in early February.

To be eligible for this University of Scranton’ scholarship, you just be in the top 2% of your class. A minimum Math and Critical Reading SAT score of 1450 or 32 ACT and a GPA of 3.9 or higher is needed.

#2. Dean’s Scholarship

To qualify for this scholarship, you must demonstrate the highest level of academic achievement. Be 20% on top of your class and have an SAT score of 1360 or 29 ACT. Then a 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).

On the flip side, you can also qualify if you are in the top 10% of your class, with a minimum SAT score of 1270  or 27 ACT and a 3.8 GPA.

#3. Loyola Scholarship

Loyola Scholarship is for students with a high level of academic achievement, are in the top 30% of their high school class.

You must have a SAT score of 1170 or 24 ACT at minimum and a 3.2 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale) to qualify.

#4. Arrupe Scholarship

This is another merit-based scholarship. This scholarship is designed for  students of color who demonstrate a strong level of academic achievement.

You must have a minimum SAT score of 1080 or 21 ACT and a 2.95 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale) to be eligible.

#5. Faber Scholarship

This university of Scranton scholarship is for students who has strong level of academic achievement.

To be eligible, you must be 40% on top in your class and must have a minimum SAT score of 1080 or 21 ACT. Then a 2.95 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
