30 Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarships for Students from Developing Countries

If with your education abroad, you wish to benefit your developing community, then you should try out the Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship. However, you will only be eligible for this Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarship if you’re pursuing a bachelor’s degree or diploma.

The Wells Mountain Initiative, through the Empowerment Through Education (ETE) program, offers a number of scholarships. These scholarships are exclusively open to students from developing countries who are pursuing an undergraduate degree. Up to 30 awards are given annually.

What is Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarship Worth?

The Scholarship’s worth ranges from $300 USD to $3,000 USD annually and is provided throughout the undergraduate education of the recipient.

The average scholarship amount is $1,400. Scholarships may be used for tuition and fees, books and materials, and room rent.

Level/Field of Study

Undergraduate degree in any field, but applications are encouraged from those interested in pursuing degrees that will best help their local communities – medicine & health sciences, community development, law, education, social work, business, information technology, agriculture, and engineering.

What is Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship Eligibility?

All applicants must have;

• Successfully completed secondary education, with good to excellent grades
• Be studying in their country or another country in the developing world
• Plans to live and work in their own country after they graduate
• Have volunteered prior to applying for this scholarship and/or is willing to volunteer while receiving the WMI scholarship
• Some other funds available for their education, but will not be able to go to school without a scholarship

How to Apply for this WMI Scholarship

There are two ways to apply: Online, or by mailing in a completed application packet to our office.

To apply Online

• Create an account having a username and login password. Note, its free.
• Fill and upload the required documents.
• Then click on the submit button.
• Expect a response in form of mail.

File format types accepted are JPG, PNG, GIF, DOC, DOCX, PDF (version 10 or newer).

Now, if you are applying via mail-in

MAIL-IN: 

• You will need to print the 2022 application form (available 12/1/2022)and it is your responsibility to clearly complete it and attach all required supporting documents before sending it to us.
• Applications must be received by March 1, 2022, in our office.
• Applications that arrive after March 1, 2022, will not be reviewed. This means that you must allow at least three weeks to mail your application to us from abroad.
• Only send one completed application. Incomplete or additional mailings with supporting documents will be discarded.

It is highly advisable that you apply online to ensure the delivery of their completed application. DO NOT email us completed applications with multiple attachments; we do not accept applications sent via email.

The following are suggestions to enhance your application:

• Record all of your service activities (dates, activities, time spent, photographs, etc.)
• Collect your secondary school transcript, national exam results and grading keys to interpret your results
• Request two letters of recommendation on official stationery from two people who know you professionally/personally and can showcase the reasons you deserve this scholarship
• Have all of your documents translated into English

Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship 2022 Deadline

The application for the 2022 Scholarships has closed. It started on December 1 and ended on March 1.
