Youth Free Expression Film Contest receives applications yearly. This contest is basically for eligible and young movie producers. Each year, the Youth Free Expression Program invites young filmmakers to create a short film on a contemporary theme of the First Amendment.
Over the past 15 years, the YFEP film competition has featured films by dozens of teenagers whose vision and respect for freedom of expression will inspire future generations.

Scholarship Worth
The top three filmmakers will receive cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250. The winner of first place will also receive a scholarship from the New York Film Academy.
Judges will be selected from a panel of film, political activism, and performing arts personalities. Previous judges included playwright Tony Kushner (Angels) and director Greg Mottola (Superbad)
Eligibility for Youth Free Expression Film Contest 2023
- All film crew members must be at least 19 years old on the day of the film.
- Contestants must be either living in the U.S. or its territories (but need not be citizens)
- Films will be judged on content, artistic and technical merit, and creativity.
- Judges will be drawn from a panel of renowned writers, actors, and filmmakers.

The Youth Free Expression Film Contest is available to teenagers between 19 years and above.

The Youth Free Expression Film Contest will be hosted and taken in the USA.
