The 5000 HEC Indigenous Scholarship for Pakistani Students 2023 is accepting applications from qualified Pakistani students. All interested applicants should comply with the scholarship’s eligibility criteria to avoid disqualification of any sort.

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) offers Indigenous scholarships for MS/M.Phil/Bs students. This Indigenous scholarship is available to local students pursuing their MS/M.Phil/Bs degree program in different universities of Pakistan.

This 5000 Indigenous Scholarship scheme aims to create a critical mass of highly qualified human resources in all fields of studies taught at the advanced level in local universities. These locally qualified academics and researchers will, in turn, improve the R&D potential of public and private universities and strengthen the local industrial sector.

About HEC Indigenous Scholarship 2023

The HEC scholarship scheme helps develop the research culture in the public/private sector universities, raising them to international norms/standards. Thus, the project is focused on diversified disciplines belonging to all fields of Science & Technology as well as Social Sciences, Humanities, and Life Sciences.

Also, to enhance the research facilities in these fields, the Higher Education Commission has funded many Departments/Universities to establish research labs. This has brought tremendous change in the research culture of Pakistan Universities.

HEC has greatly emphasized indigenous scholarship schemes because locally trained researchers work on local problems of great national significance. The HEC thus expect their research to have direct relevance to Pakistan’s growth and Socio-economic development.

In addition, this scheme also provides funds to the universities for upgrading their research facilities, particularly small laboratory equipment, chemicals, IT equipment, etc., which not only facilitates the research of the HEC scholar but also serves as an asset for the department to establish up-to-date research laboratories.

Level/Field of study

The HEC scholarships are available to students intending to pursue their Ms/MPhil/Bs program in some specified areas of study, such as Science & Technology as well as Social Sciences, Humanities, and Life Sciences.

Host Nationality

Pakistan institutions sponsor and support the Hec scholarship 2023 for Pakistan Ms, MPhil, and undergraduate students. Thus, the Indigenous scholarship scheme can only be taken in Pakistan.

Eligible Nationality

The HEC scholarship 2023 is open to indigenous students and researchers in Pakistan.

Scholarship Benefits

The HEC Indigenous scholarship is a fully-funded scholarship for Pakistani students in 2023. It provides the Pakistani scholar a full tuition waiver, accommodation, research grants, travel fares, and other related educational expenses.

In the PHASE-I of the 5000 HEC Ph.D. Fellowship, scholars receive Rs. 10,000 (MS/MPhil) and Rs. 13,000 (Ph.D.) per month; Book allowance of Rs. 5,000 per year; Thesis evaluation from abroad charges on completion of Rs. 18,000 once during the award lifetime; and Thesis charge of Rs. 5,000 in the last year of the scholar’s program.

However, in the 5000 HEC Ph.D. Fellowship PHASE-II, the first 02 years of scholars during the MS period receive stipends of Rs. 12,000 per month with Rs. 1,000 increments per year. For the last 03 years, scholars during the Ph.D. period have received stipends of Rs. 18,000 per month with Rs. 1,500 increments per year. Both sets of scholars receive a Book Allowance of Rs.5000/ p.a., Thesis charges of Rs.10,000 (once at completion), and Laptops worth PKR 60,000 (once).

Service to University:

The HEC service to the university throughout the Ph.D. duration (03 years) includes getting lab/workshop equipment, consumables, provisions, etc., valued at RS. 60,000/ p.a. Also, they’ll pay Thesis test charges to the university from the overseas conclusion worth Rs. 20000.

HEC Scholarship Eligibility

Scholars must meet the criteria below to be eligible for the HEC 5000 indigenous scholarships 2023.

An applicant is eligible for the award of an HEC scholarship in a year if, in that year, the applicant:

  • Has previously completed an undergraduate program with honors; and
  • Is enrolled in the first year of a postgraduate program.
  • Students must meet the required criteria for a particular Institution.
  • The candidate must have the necessary grades in the previous degree.
  • Must be a citizen of Pakistan.

How to Apply for the HEC Scholarship

To successfully apply for the 5000 HEC Indigenous scholarship for Pakistani students, follow the step by step procedure below.

  1. Log-In

    The HEC scholarship application is done online, visit Scholarship link ‘Log in’ for old Candidates. Fill the available details regarding the webpage and make Shared Profile.

  2. Create an Account

    Click ‘Register’ for new candidates. To register, you’ll generate an individual ID with your CNIC (without any dashes), like the User ID, and select the password. Create an account and fill in the essential information you find on the monitor. Click on and download ‘Mobile Code’ in your mobile no. for further procedure. (Currently, MNC / / Ported amounts Are not supported). After getting the code sent to your cellphone, input the code. Perform code confirmation and click submit. You’re going to be enrolled successfully. Please check your email for additional info.

  3. Complete Online Profile

    After creating your account, you’ll be asked to establish a ‘User ID’ &’Password’ and then ‘register’ on HEC E-portal. Once logged in successfully, Complete the online profile section at eportal. Follow with instructions, fill out and submit the form.
     

How to register when you already have a common profile at HEC E-Portal

In the situation where you already have an established user ID in http://eportal.hec.gov.pk? , Then click & Access User ID and password ‘Register in’ and move for the scholarship by clicking ‘scholarships’ on the left ‘Navigation’ and native Ph.D. Fellowship Program. Follow with instructions, fill out and submit the form.

Application Deadline for HEC indigenous Scholarships 2023

The HEC has concluded accepting applications for the Batch V of the 5000 HEC Indigenous scholarships at this time.

However, in the way of updates, Batch-V candidates whose cases are under Process would be issued award letters and funds in August/September 2023 upon receiving funds from GoP, provided they meet all requirements for the award of the Scholarship.

Terms and Conditions

These are the terms and conditions for the HEC Indigenous Scholarship 2023 Scheme, and accepting the scholarship would indicate an acceptance:

  • The applicants must ensure that they are applying for the correct discipline, as no request for a change of discipline will be considered after the submission of applications.
  • An awardee should not hold any other scholarship/stipend during the fellowship period of his/her study.
  • The applicants must have completed their Bachelor/16 years or MS/MPhil/18 years degrees before the closing date of application submission.
  • The number of PhD scholars must not exceed 5 under the supervision of 1 HEC-approved supervisor.
  • Change of universities/institutes at any stage of study is not encouraged, but in unavoidable circumstances, it will be admissible only with prior approval of the Higher Education Commission.
  • An awardee shall sign an agreement with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on non-judicial paper (stamp paper) to the effect that if the awardee fails to complete his/her study, s/he will refund HEC the total amount released on his/her studies by the HEC.
  • Also, a personal guarantee of a person of means on non-judicial (stamp) paper would need to be furnished to ensure recovery in case of default.
  • An awardee would have to obtain a study leave from his employer to join the institution of his study on a full-time basis.
  • For MS/MPhil Scholarship, the merit will be calculated based on 60% HAT Score & 40% score of a Bachelor/16-year degree.
