The Eastern Nazarene College

The Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) is a private, Christian, liberal arts and sciences college located in Quincy, Massachusetts.

The College was established as a holiness college in Saratoga Springs, New York, in 1900. It moved to Rhodes Island and remained there several years later until its expansion to a four-year curriculum, which prompted its relocation to Wollaston, Massachusetts in 1919.

The college has expanded to additional sites in Quincy and, since the late 20th century, to satellite sites across the state.

ENC’s academic programs are primarily undergraduate, with a few professional graduate education programs.

The U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges report, 2010 listed the college in the top tier for Northern U.S regional college.

The total student population is 1,075 students, comprising 927 Undergraduates and 148 Postgraduates.

In the Traditional Undergraduate Division, the college offers associate’s and bachelor’s (Art and Science) liberal arts degrees in 50 majors, 57 minors, and 6 pre-professional programs.

The college uses a “4-1-4 system” for its academic year – two roughly four-month-long full semesters in the Fall and Spring and a one-month term in May known as “May Term.”

ENC also offers continuing education for working adults through the Leadership Education for Adults Division (LEAD).

The school has had “AcceleratedPrograms” in place since 1990, and it now includes bachelor’s degree completion, associate’s degrees, and certificates in paralegal studies (CPS) and human resource management (CHRM).

Most LEAD classes are held at the Old Colony Campus or at one of the four satellite campuses for reasons of transportation and accessibility, such as parking space, which is limited at the main campus.

Graduate offerings from the school’s Graduate Division are primarily master’s degrees (master of science and master of education).
