In its fifth year, the Café Bustelo El Café del Futuro Scholarship has awarded $180,000 in college scholarships to 36 Latino students nationwide.
According to their website, the Scholarship is awarded because “Café Bustelo® aims to invest in the Latino community by awarding scholarships to those who seek better futures for themselves, their families and their communities.
They are looking for motivated college students with a passion for community involvement & furthering their education.”

Who is eligible to apply for the El Cafe Del Futuro Scholarship?
- Full-time undergraduate or graduate students of Latino descent – Open to all majors and
- Must be 18 years or older and
- Currently enrolled at a HACU-member institution within the United States, D.C. and Puerto Rico.

How to Apply For Cafe Bustelo scholarship 2022
This scholarship’s application process may have items such as essays that could take a couple of hours.
Write an essay of 800 words or less on the following topic:
“Describe how your Latino heritage, family and the community in which you grew up have impacted your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree.
Additionally, describe what you intend to accomplish with your degree and how you will give back to your community.
When is El Bustero’s Scholarship application deadline
All applications portal opens February 24 and closes July 6, at 11:59 pm CT.
Other Information Needed
- The essays and supporting documents will be judged by a qualified panel of judges and assigned points based on the criteria listed in the official rules.
- The highest scoring applicants will be deemed winners. Winners will be announced to the public on or about Sept. one.
- Employees, officers and directors of HACU or Rowland Coffee Roasters, Inc., their parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, sales representatives, website developers and administrators, advertising, sales promotion, and judging agencies and all other service agencies involved with the contest , and members of the immediate families (parent, child, sibling and spouse of each) or households of the above are not eligible.
