Students planning to go to college often wonder where to look for scholarships. Scholarships are best found by the organizations of which you are a member. One such example is the Phi Theta Kappa organization, which offers a wide variety of Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships to student members.

About Phi Theta Kappa

The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, also PTK, is the international honor society of two-year colleges and university programs, especially state universities and community colleges. It also includes associate degree programs offered by four-year colleges.

You will find below a list of some scholarships awarded by this organization:

Associate Scholarships

These scholarships provide members with more than 200 different scholarships. Each scholarship is worth up to $ 1,000. A complete list of scholarships can be found on this website.

For example, the Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship offers 200 scholarships to members of Phi Theta Kappa who have at least 3.5 points on average. In order to qualify for this scholarship, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours.

Some of these scholarships are reserved for military personnel. Each of these scholarships has a value of $ 1,000.

The Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarships is also open to Phi Theta Kappa members who are pursuing an associate’s degree. Each year, 15 different scholarships valued at $ 1,000 are awarded.

To be qualified, students must have at least an average grade of 3.0 points and intend to graduate in a year and a half.

Bachelor’s Degree Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa student members may receive more than 250 different scholarships for a college. The amount of these awards vary between $1,500 and $30,000. The Hites Transfer Scholarship is available to members moving to a four-year college.

A total of 10 scholarships valued at $7,500 are available. The Coca-Cola New Century Scholars Scholarship offers students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree twenty scholarships, which are each valued at $5,000.

This award is also open to students who are not current members of Phi Theta Kappa. All students must be nominated by someone on campus, demonstrate community engagement, and have strong academic achievement.

Master’s Scholarships:

Students seeking a Master’s degree and who are also members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society are eligible for funding. A list of current opportunities can be found here. The GEICO Pathway to Completion Masters Program is one of those opportunities.

This program offers two prizes worth $2,500 each. This scholarship can only be solicited by students who have already graduated from Phi Theta Kappa and hold a bachelor’s degree. Students must already be enrolled in a graduate program to qualify for this award.

The highest priority is given to students who were officers, whether at the regional, international or chapter level of Phi Theta Kappa.

What GPA do you need to stay in Phi Theta Kappa?

In general, you must maintain a “B” average — 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) — to remain a PTK member. However, individual chapters can set their own maintenance GPA’s, so check with your local advisor.
