4. Alabama Concrete Industries Association Scholarship
The Foundation that awards this scholarship was established in 1993 from a single contribution to a memorial scholarship giving honor to one of the bright young leaders of the industry, David F. Wright. David kicked the bucket in an aviation accident, but his legacy and passion for concrete live on through the students who have been impacted by the provision of opportunities through the foundation and growing scholarship fund. 5. The Alabama Home Builders Foundation scholarship
This scholarship was founded in 1995 with a mission to help fund deserving students who are interested in the pursuit of an education in the residential building trades in the state of Alabama. As of 2015, over 1,000 students have received over $500,000 in scholarship funding.
Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Alabama enrolling in or attending, either an accredited junior college, technical school or university in Alabama enrolled in a residential construction-related curriculum
Instructions: Applications submitted via electronic means, through the Foundation website, email, or fax, must be received by, March 15th.

6. AFDA_Scholarships
The Alabama Funeral Directions Association (AFDA) is committed to excellence to education in funeral service. An active member of the AFDA must sponsor scholarship applicants.
The scholarship committee’s decision will be final. In a situation wherein there are no applicants or applications do not meet the set standards by the committee, the right not to make the award is reserved by the committee. Awardees will be in receipt of all awards prior to the beginning of a full semester.
Two AFDA $1,000.00 scholarships ($500.00 per semester) will be given to awardees that have plans of completing their education in an accredited mortuary science school and serve the public in their chosen profession in the State of Alabama.
Applicants will be in receipt of all these scholarships which will be awarded at the Scholarship Committee of the AFDA.
The basis of the award will be on application information, academic record and evaluation.
The student and the school will receive a notification of the award by mail. At receiving the proper invoices from the accredited school, the payment of funds will be made directly to the school on a pro-rata basis until the award is exhausted. The scholarship award is to be used exclusively for the payment of tuition of mortuary science classes, and textbooks necessary for the mortuary classes. If any reason prompts a recipient to drop a mortuary science required class or discontinue their education in the field of mortuary science, the unused portion of the scholarship award will remain in the AFDA Scholarship Fund.
7. Cabaniss, Johnston Scholarship
Cabaniss, Johnston, Gardner, Dumas & O’Neal are distinguished as having one of the oldest law practices in Alabama. The Cabaniss & Banks began practice in Birmingham in 1887 and the firm traces its origins to that. Ever since a merger in 1920 produced Cabaniss, Johnston, Cocke & Cabaniss, “Cabaniss, Johnston” has been a familiar and respected name in Alabama legal circles.
This scholarship was established in 1987 by Cabaniss, Johnston to commemorate the entrance of the firm into its second century. One or more law students entering their second year at an accredited law school in the United States receives this scholarship award annually.
Eligibility
- Only residents of Alabama are eligible for scholarships.
- Students applying for this scholarship should be in all respects superior.
- The key factor will be academic achievement, though consideration will also be given to factors such as dependability, conscientiousness, civic involvement, financial need and dedication to the highest ethical standards.
The first place scholarship will cater for tuition and books for the second year of law school, to a maximum of $5,000.
A second-place scholarship of $1,000 may be awarded at the discretion of the committee. The recipients of the scholarships are in agreement that the firm will be entitled to be informed on academic performance.

- Demonstrate financial need

Alabama women who are pursuing their undergraduate degree at 4-year accredited Alabama colleges and universities and are seeking help to fund their academic financial engagements sends in their application to the Scholarship Committee in the fall each year.
The Linly Heflin Scholarship awards $6,000 yearly for four years or until graduation, whichever comes first, and high school seniors through college juniors are eligible to apply.

11. Alabama Concrete Industries Association Foundation (ACIF)
Alabama State recognizes its youth as its greatest asset and the Alabama Concrete Industries Association Foundation is committed to its youth development.
The Foundation was created in 1993 with a single contribution to a memorial scholarship fund honoring one of the industry’s bright young leaders, David F. Wright, who breathed his last in a plane crash following the foundation’s creation.
On an annual basis, The ACIF makes provision for the funding for scholarships that are awarded annually to college seniors majoring in engineering, architecture, and building sciences at universities in Alabama.
Currently, two $8,000 scholarships are awarded by the Foundation each year.
The ACIA’s Annual Business Meeting will be held in January and recipients will be notified via presented checks.
12. Alpha Gamma Rho Educational Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship award is for $1,000 annually and is non-renewable. Payment is offered for all scholarships with the understanding that, unless otherwise indicated, the money will be used for fees, tuition, books, and equipment required for classes to attain a college degree or vocational diploma from a postsecondary vocational/technical school or from a college or university.
The available award amount is a non-renewable annual pay of $900. Also, one award is offered annually. Alpha Gamma Rho Educational Foundation Scholarship is awarded by the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization.

13. Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship
Strong leadership skills must be exhibited by all applicants for this award. It is to be noted that students are eligible for only one scholarship while enrolled in a postsecondary institution and only one scholarship as a high school senior.
Students should not apply twice at the same grade level. The award process for this scholarship is automated. The selection of scholarship recipients is based on individual applications meeting sponsor criteria and eligibility requirements.
The basis of scoring applications is on the following rubric:
- Academic achievement – 30 points maximum;
- Leadership – 30 points maximum;
- Community service – 10 points maximum;
- Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) – 30 points maximum.
A thorough visual review is conducted by selectors to determine the recipient(s) once the process has been narrowed down to the top candidates alone.
After the selection process, scholarship recipients will receive notifications at the end of May. Added to this, a listing of all recipients will be posted on the FFA website by May 7.
14. Landscape Architecture Foundation
The Scholarship was created by Steven G. King, FASLA, founder and Chairman of Landscape Structures Inc., and the inventor of the concept known as “continuous play”. The scholarship is intended to recognize students who have high potential in the design of play environments.
Interest in the value of integrating playgrounds into parks, schools, and other play environments and understanding the significant social and educational value of play must be shown by students.
