How Do I Pay Wilfrid’s tuition fee?

The easiest and recommended method of payment is online banking. Log onto your financial institution’s online banking site, and set up Wilfrid Laurier University as a payee. The account number is your student ID number. They encourage students to make payments at least three days before a fee due date to ensure their payment makes it on time!

They also accept Debits in person at Service Laurier kiosks in Waterloo and Brantford campuses.

The school does not accept credit cards or cheques payments for tuition payments. Also, it does not accept Bitcoin as a form of payment.

INTERNATIONAL PAYMENT OPTIONS

Laurier offers an international payment option through CIBC International Student Pay. Log on to the secure online portal to initiate a payment with your preferred method and currency from anywhere in the world at any time.

This is completed through four easy steps:

  1. Log in – Go to the CIBC International Student Pay portal, and log in using your MyLaurier login information.
  2. Provide Payment Details– Simply enter your tuition amount in Canadian dollars, then select your country and payment currency. You’ll be shown the amount required in your preferred currency to pay your student fees in Canadian dollars based on the competitive Foreign Exchange rate CIBC is providing. This quoted exchange rate is locked in for 72 hours – this means no currency fluctuations during that period as you finalize your transaction.
  3. Choose your payment option – Conveniently choose from any of the following payment methods International Bank Wire, ACH Direct Debit for U.S. bank accounts, Visa & MasterCard debit and credit cards, and China UnionPay credit and debit cards.
  4. Enter payer details – Enter a few payer details, which can be you, your parents, or an agent acting on your behalf.

    Track your payment – Track your payment anytime by selecting ‘track your payments’ on the CIBC International Student Pay portal.

    Please note, if a Bank Wire payment is chosen, initiate the transfer by printing the payment instructions and reference code. You must bring this information to your local bank within 72 hours. Your bank will follow the instructions to complete the fund transfer.

WHEN ARE TUITION FEES DUE?

Fall term academic fees are due in early September. Winter term fees are due in early January.

The first fee due date for each term typically happens during the first week of the start of the term. Specific dates can be found in the academic calendar.

After the due date, monthly late payment penalties of 1.25% will be assessed on all unpaid balances.

For international students in their first year, you will pay half your fees for the first term in August. The other half will be paid in December for the second term. You have a four-month summer break from May to August, which you are allowed to stay in Canada and work full-time or return to your home country.

Are There Financial Aids and Scholarships at Wilfrid Laurier University?

Each year Wilfrid offers over hundreds of scholarships that are competitive to students.

Part-time job: You, as a student, can work part-time. Wilfrid University gives this opportunity to its students. In-course Scholarship:

Wilfrid University offers entrance scholarships from $1,000 to $2,000 that are based on your academic achievement.
This scholarship is offered on admission to those with a high school grade GPA. It is given to first-year students, international and domestic students alike, doing their undergraduate studies.

During the remaining of your 4 0r 5 years in Wilfrid, you can qualify for additional scholarships if you meet the GPA requirements. This scholarship is valued at $500 to $1,500 annually.

With the Grade Point Average (GPA) of 10 to 10.49, you can receive an in-course scholarship amount of $500 applied directly to your tuition. GPAs of 10.50 to 10.99 receive $750, and GPAs of 11 to 12 receive $1,500. Amounts of $500 are applied in full to fees for the next full-time academic term. Amounts more than $500 are applied equally to fees for the next two full-time academic terms.

This scholarship is subject to change.

PRESIDENT’S GOLD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

President’s Gold Scholarship is granted upon admission, just like the one mentioned above. It is renewable for subsequent academic years if you meet the following renewal requirements: a minimum GPA of 10.5 in the previous academic year.

After a minimum of 5.0 credits (or 10 half credits) over the regular three terms of study in the previous academic year at Laurier.

If the student doesn’t meet the requirement stated earlier, students would then automatically be assessed for eligibility under the in-course scholarship.

ENTRANCE BURSARIES

This bursary is based solely on financial need; entrance bursaries are worth a maximum of $1,500 and are not to be repaid. Once you have applied to Laurier, you can apply for a bursary until the deadline. 

This scholarship is only open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents and those attending university for the first time.
