The Levine Scholars Program takes the brightest, most capable students. It gives them the tools, resources, and environment to explore the world around them, engage deeply in their communities and excel across disciplines.

The four-year scholarship includes full tuition, room, board, a grant to implement a service project of the Scholar’s own design, and four summers of experiences that will develop leadership skills, social awareness, and an international perspective.

The total value of this four-year package is estimated at $105,000 for in-state students and $155,000 for out-of-state students.

The Scholars value the benefits of the rigorous academic programs at UNC Charlotte, the state’s only urban research university noted for its innovative interdisciplinary programs and opportunities for student research.

Basic Details About the Levine Scholarships 2023

Level/Field of Study:

The Levine Scholarship program is designed for high school seniors eager to embark on a transformative college and Undergraduate experience. There is no Discipline restriction.

Host Nationality:

The Levine Scholars program is usually organized and hosted in the United States of America.

Eligible Nationality:

Levine scholars are only accepted amongst United States Citizens. They include Black Americans, Citizens, LatinosHispanic, Filipinos, etc.

Levine Scholarship Worth

The Levine Scholars Program awards scholarships to approximately 20 incoming freshmen each year. The total value of this four-year package is estimated at $105,000 for in-state students and $155,000 for out-of-state students.

As members of the Honors College, Levine Scholars will be allowed to enroll in honors courses, live in the honors residence hall and complete a senior honors thesis as they progress toward graduation with honors distinction.

Levine Scholarship Requirements

Interested Levine scholarship applicants should note that:

  • Students must be applicants for freshman enrolment at UNC Charlotte in an undergraduate program for the fall term immediately following their high school graduation.
  • They must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Students must demonstrate a commitment to community service, hold an academic record that reflects a sustained passion for knowledge, and possess a capacity for ethical leadership that elevates fellow students to a higher standard.
  • While there are no minimum SAT, ACT or grade point averages to apply for the Levine Scholarship, students must excel academically and show evidence of experience, motivation, and commitment toward the program’s ideals.
  • Successful candidates will likely have a grade point average of 3.8 – 4.0 (unweighted) and score 1900 – 2400 on the three combined sections of the old SAT or a 29 – 36 on the ACT composite.

How To Apply for Levine Scholarship

The Levine Scholars Program which is also called Levine scholarship uncc has a four-step scholarship nomination/application process that includes the following:

Nomination:

Prospective Levine scholars must be nominated online by their high school counselor, there is no limit to the number of students that can be nominated from each high school.

A professor or teacher who is not related to the student can nominate homeschooled students. The online nomination form for the 2023 session was available on August 15, and nominations were accepted until October 8, 2023. They will be available within the same period in 2023, keep checking to know when it’s available.

Application for Admission:

Student applicants should create a Future 49er Portal account that will allow them access, complete and submit the online freshman admissions application.

To create your Future account, you can visit https://futurefortyniners.uncc.edu/admissions/default.asp Applications and application materials (transcript and test scores) were received by November 1, 2023.

Completion of a Levine Supplemental Scholarship Application:

Once students have been nominated, they will receive an email directing them to the Levine Scholars Portal where they will find the supplemental scholarship application and essay questions.

Student applicants should complete Section A of the application immediately so that emails can be sent to those individuals writing letters of recommendation. The entire supplemental application for the 2023 session was completed and submitted online by November 8, 2023.

Submission of Online Recommendations:

Student applicants can have up to three recommendations submitted on their behalf, but only two recommendations will be required.

The first recommendation should be from someone with direct knowledge of their academic potential and accomplishments; the second recommendation should be from someone with direct knowledge of their commitment to community service and capacity for ethical leadership.

The third, optional, recommendation can be from anyone who has known the student in an academic or community setting.

When completing the supplemental scholarship application, students will be asked to submit the names and email addresses of their two required recommenders and one optional recommender.

The recommenders will be sent an email immediately directing them to a link to the online recommendation form.

Applications submitted on November 1st will be processed on November 5th. It will not be viewable in the future portal until your application is processed. Please be patient and allow several days for your status to be updated.

August 15:  The nomination form is available online for high school counselors and college advisors.

October 19:  Deadline for school counselors to nominate students for the Levine Scholars Program.

November 1: Deadline for nominees to submit a complete freshman admissions application to UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Admissions. This date must receive the application, application fee or approved fee waiver, official high school transcript and official SAT and/or ACT scores.

November 8: Deadline for nominees to complete the Levine Scholars supplemental application through the online portal. All recommendations must also be submitted online by this date.

November 21: Semifinalists and all other applicants are notified of their status through the Levine Scholars portal.

January 2: Finalists and all other applicants are notified of their status through the Levine Scholars portal.

February 10-11: Levine Scholars Finalist Program

March 1: Recipients and all other candidates notified of their status through the Levine Scholars portal.

April 15, is the application deadline
