VLIR-UOS Oceans and Lakes masters Scholarship  for developing countries

The Ocean and Lakes Scholarship Programme is an educational sponsorship program offered by a network of three universities in Belgium; Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB, Free University of Brussel), Universiteit Antwerp (University of Antwerp), and Universiteit Gent (University of Ghent). This network of universities provide their students with the basic and core knowledge needed to foster scientific research and management of maritime and lacustrine systems.

The programme employs a multifaceted approach that addresses physical, chemical, geological, ecological and societal aspects and as well nature and sustainable development. The major goal for this program is to enable students and candidates from Uganda and other developing countries to build capacity, amass knowledge, and also gain the necessary experiences required for sustainable development in their home countries.

Host/Eligible Nationality: 

VLIR-UOS scholarships are usually hosted by a network of universities in Belgium in collaboration with the Belgian government. This scholarship opportunity is specifically available to Ugandan students and may also be available to other developing countries in Africa and around the world.

Level/Field of study:

The programme is not for students who are yet to pursue or are currently pursuing an undergraduate programme. It is for those have already acquired a Bachelors degree and are set to pursue a masters programme. This programme is a master’s level programme.

Worth of scholarship:

This programme is an all-expense-paid programme. It covers the full expenses of the student within the time of the programme.

The government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is an established national initiative, funded by the Department of Education and Skills and managed by the Council. It is unique in the Irish research landscape and complements other channels for funding postgraduate education in the Irish eco-system.

Hosted/Eligible Nationality:

This programme is a masters programme, hosted and taken in Ireland and it is open to international students. Students from Uganda are eligible to apply.

Scholarship worth:

  • A stipend of €10,000 per annum
  • A contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of €5,750 per annum
  • Eligible direct research expenses of €2,250 per annum

Rotary Yoneyama Foundation Undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D. Scholarships 

Another masters scholarships for Ugandan students abroad is the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation. Rotary Clubs in Japan through the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation is offering scholarships for overseas students to undertake undergraduate, masters and doctoral studies at a Japanese university or graduate school.

Host/Eligible Nationality:

This is a master scholarship for Ugandan students taken at the Japanese Universities and Graduate Schools. It is open to students from Uganda and other international students.

Science @ Leuven Masters Scholarships for International students

Applications are currently ongoing for the Science@Leuven Scholarship 2020 for International students in Belgium. The scholarship is designed for Ugandan and other international students pursuing their master’s degree programme in the universities.

The scholarship is worth up to 10,000 Euro for one year.

Hasselt University Masters Scholarship Programme

The Hasselt University Masters Scholarship programme is one of the numerous master’s scholarships for Ugandan students abroad. It is one of VLIR-UOS scholarship programmes available to Ugandan students and may be available to other developing countries in Africa too.

Host/Eligible Nationality:

This scholarship is hosted and taken in Belgium. Students resident in Uganda and other developing countries in Africa and around the world can apply for this opportunity.

Level:

Only masters students can apply for this opportunity.

Worth of scholarship:

This scholarship covers:

  • Accommodation and family allowance of about 1150 Euros every month.
  • Several one-time payments

Trent University’s International Global Citizen Scholarships and Awards in Canada

Host/Eligible Nationality:

This is one of the masters’ scholarships for Ugandan students abroad. It is provided by Trent University Canada. It is open to students from every part of the world. Including students from Uganda.

Level/Field of Study:

This scholarship is available to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students in all subjects offered by Trent University.

Scholarship worth:

The scholarship is a Partial Funding ranging from $2,000 to $22,000 each academic year.

Graduate Fellowships 2022

The Graduate Fellowships is offered by the Simon Fraser University. Simon Fraser University, commonly referred to as SFU, is a public research university in British Columbia, Canada with campuses in Burnaby, Vancouver, and Surrey.

Anhui Government Scholarships for International Students in China

Applications have been invited for the Anhui Government Scholarships for International Students in China, 2022. This is another top-paying Masters scholarship for Ugandan students abroad.

This scholarship is hosted in China and it is Open to international students. Students from Uganda are eligible.

Gordon Signy Fellowships 2022

Gordon Signy Fellowships 2022 is offered for Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D., Post Doc degree in the field of Pathology. Gordon Signy Fellowship is another Master scholarship for Ugandan students abroad.

Host/Eligible Nationality:

This scholarship is provided by the World Association of pathology and laboratory medicine. Students from Uganda are eligible to apply.

This is a Partially Funded programme ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

Confucius Institute Scholarship at East China Normal University in China

Confucius Institute Scholarship at East China Normal University in China, 2020 is offered for Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D., Diploma, Training & Short courses degree in the field of Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.

Host/Eligible Nationality:

This scholarship is provided by Confucius Institute, offered at the East China Normal University in China. It is open for non-Chinese citizens. Students from Uganda are eligible.

Scholarship worth:

The worth is Full Funding, Full Tuition fee + accommodations + expenses + medical insurance.

Thailand International Postgraduate Scholarship and Training Program

As part of bilateral and triangular development cooperation projects, the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) offers over 700 training fellowships and 70 postgraduate scholarships for government officials from developing countries around the world through Annual International Training Course (AITC) and Thailand International Postgraduate Programme (TIPP).

Host/Eligible Nationality:

This is a masters programme which is to be taken in Thailand and it is available to students from Uganda and other Countries.

The Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership is awarding a number of about 10 scholarships to students wanting to pursue a masters degree in sustainable energy development in a University of Canada.

Host/Eligible Nationality:

The scholarship is another masters scholarship for Ugandan students in Canada provided by Global Sustainable Electricity Partnerships.

VLIR-OUS Masters (ICP) and Training Scholarships by Belgium government for African and developing countries

VLIR-UOS offers masters scholarships to students from Uganda and other developing countries in Africa and around the world so they can pursue a training and master’s programme in Belgium. Annually, VLIR-UOS awards about 150-180 scholarships to fresh master’s students and about 70 scholarships to training participants. These scholarships have been known to cover all related expenses. The master’s programmes which normally last for about one to two academic years have been designed to focus on specific problems and real needs of developing countries.

The programmes are designed to empower the students to share and apply the acquired knowledge in their home institution and country.

Host/Eligible Nationality:

This scholarship is hosted in Belgium by the VLIR-UOS commission in collaboration with other host universities. The VLIR-UOS masters and training scholarship is open to residents and nationals of Uganda. This one is particularly for you. And you don’t want to let it slip off your hands.

Master Mind Scholarship for International students, Vrije Universiteit Brussel Belgium

Applications are currently open for the 2022 Master Mind Scholarships Fellowship Programme for Excellent Students. It is a scholarship programme offered by the Flemish government aiming to promote the internationalization of the Flemish higher education.

Host/Eligible Nationality:

It is hosted in Belgium. Ugandan students are very eligible to apply. Also, students from some other developing countries around the world may be eligible to apply too.

This programme is only available for master students.
