It is a great study destination for students from developing countries because the Finnish education system is considered one of the best in Europe and the world. Basically, Finnish Universities offer about 450 international programs in English including programs that offer scholarships to study in Finland.

Why study in Finland?

In Finland, over 500 programs which include undergraduate and master degree programs scholarships are made available. These programs are taught in different languages, which the English language is the major.

Aside from the undergraduate and master’s degree programs, Doctoral and Research programs are available for students. Moreso, international students have the option of studying in Finnish or Swedish and must be fluent in the languages.

What are the Eligibilities of applyng for any degree of program scholarship?

The criteria for apply for a degree program differ. For bachelor’s programs, as an applicant, you must have an upper secondary school certificate and its equivalent. Then, 210-270ECTS credits and the duration is between 3.5 and 4.5 years. Note, university bachelor’s degree amounts to 180 ECTS credits and the duration is 3 years.

For a Master’s degree, you must have a bachelor’s degree. And also need to get at least, 2 years of working experience in the field in addition. Note, Master’s degree takes between 1 to 1.5 years to complete and amounts to 60-90 ECTS credits.

Then if you are applying for Doctoral programs, you need a Master’s degree for your eligibility to apply. This usually takes around four years to complete and consists of 240 ECTS credits.

In the area of tuition, the tuition fee for Non-European students is around €20000 per year’s intuition.

How to apply for Scholarship in Finland?

To apply for a scholarship in Finland as a student from a developing country, you must do it while applying for your studies. And before you do that, make research about the available scholarships in the school you want to student and their application.

This will enable you to apply before the deadline because any application submitted after the deadline might not be considered. Note, Scholarships for international students are mostly offered on merit and there is a certain quota for each degree program.

Cost of Living in Finland

To live in Finland is not totally cheap, however, you could get something decent as a student. Living in the capital city, Helsinki is costlier than smaller towns. Your budget should be about €700 to €1000 per month.

To live in a students’ residence hall will be cheaper than opting for private accommodation.

Scholarship Benefit/Number of awards: The Scholarship is a fully Funded Scholarship that provides a monthly allowance is 1500 euros. The scholarship is intended to cover living expenses in Finland for each student. The number of openings was not specified.

Host/Eligible Country: This scholarship is hosted in Finland and is available for students from developing countries.

Level: The scholarship grants are available to young Ph.D. students scientists to pursue further research in the field of medicine and public health.

Orion Research Grants in Public Health provide the support that includes:

  • A waiver is given to 80% of those accepted students who are required to pay the tuition.
