Why a Scholarship is Important

Scholarships come in a variety of shapes and sizes. There are many reasons a student would have to apply for financial aid or receive funding to attend school.

Institutions and organizations that provide scholarships to students should be careful to accurately manage their finances to ensure a solid relationship with donors and recipients. Implementing scholarship management software is an effective way to monitor this activity.

Scholarships offer an opportunity for many people to get an education. Without the help of an external source, students may find it difficult to pay for the degree they need to enter the workforce and become contributing members of society.

It has been noticed that students often work several jobs throughout college and graduate school. Years to pay for his classes, books, and lodging.

While this is certainly an option, it slows down the time most students need to study and learn. Academic performance can suffer when a student is overwhelmed. In addition, about two-thirds of all college graduates are overwhelmed with student loans upon leaving school.

Because of the steady increase in tuition prices, these loans are on average $ 20,000. Compared to student debt in the early 1990s, this is a 50% increase.

In a country where a college degree is beneficial during a job search, scholarships lower the financial pressure on many students.

Types of Scholarship

Scholarships come in various form and is categorized into two major types; include Fully Funded Scholarship: these are scholarships whose values and benefits cover the entire expenses, which include tuition fee, accommodation, books, and other personal expenses.

Partially Funded Scholarship: those scholarships whose benefits do not entirely cover the student’s financial needs. It may only fund a part of the academic and financial demand.

Example 1: Why do I deserve this scholarship essay (100 words)

With a 100-word essay, you need to get into the thesis as quickly as possible. There is not enough room for a long introduction. Use concise language and show your greatest achievements/goals. You should have enough sentences to divide into two small paragraphs, although one may be only two or three sentences.

I believe I deserve this scholarship opportunity because I am an innovative problem solver. For the past two years, as chairman of the student council, I have helped reorganize my entire school library to accommodate today’s students’ needs better.

I worked with the library staff to categorize the books to reflect current school issues. I will use the same leadership mentality to get my business degree focused on project management.

My ultimate goal is to work on building management to increase efficiency in low-income housing development. With this scholarship and grants based on needs, I was awarded, I can complete my education and continue to solve problems in my community.

Word Count: 111

Example 2: Why do I deserve this scholarship essay (250 words)

A 250-word essay usually comprises 4-5 paragraphs. The introduction may have a short lead-in but should get to the thesis quickly. The body paragraphs should support the statement made in the first paragraph (the reason you deserve the scholarship). The conclusion should summarize the essay collectively and may include a statement of appreciation.

One of the most debated topics in the United States is how to provide affordable health care for the masses. While many focus on affordable health insurance, I believe the answer is inaccessible healthcare professionals.

Nursing professionals often go unnoticed and unacknowledged for their versatility and value in the medical profession. With this scholarship, I could continue my training to become a nurse and provide viable medical services to underserved communities.

Growing up in a small agricultural town in Montana, the nearest hospital was 45 minutes away. The city’s only family doctor would charge whatever he wanted for an appointment because he was the only provider.

My parents relied on home remedies to treat whatever illness my brother and I developed. That’s when my passion for medicine took shape for the first time.

Minimal medical care was not a concern until my father went to the hospital because of severe stomach problems. These resulted from Crohn’s disease, a condition that can be treated with treatment.

Since my father had not been to the doctor for years, the outbreak was highly aggressive. It took months to control inflammation and take preventive medication.

When I went to college, I knew I wanted to help people like my father. I became a nurse because I can practice medicine without paying a fortune. Nursing professionals are beneficial in rural communities where hospitals and doctors are limited or nonexistent.

These are the areas that I intend to serve. I am grateful to be considered for this scholarship opportunity, and if I am selected, I will use it to advance my medical training.

Word Count: 278

Example 3: Why do I deserve this scholarship essay (500 words)

With a 500-word essay, you have space to tell your story and create an experience for the reader. Use several introductory phrases to take your thesis and set the tone for the essay. The body paragraph should flow logically, most often chronologically. So the conclusion should again emphasize the thesis and leave the study committee with something to remember.

Winston Churchill once said, “Success comprises going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” And although I have never defined my obstacles as “failures,” I marked my success by my repeated perseverance through adversity. I have faced several challenges over the years, from dyslexia to homelessness;

however, I kept winning exemplary grades and graduating to the top of my class. I deserve this bag because I have the strength and determination to achieve my goals, no matter what obstacles I have to overcome.

I was not born a talented student. Tests and assignments have always been difficult for me, whether I studied or not. In the second grade, my parents tested me for learning difficulties. The psychologist said that I had a hyperactivity disorder and prescribed medication to suppress my energy.

After two years of treatment, I was re-evaluated and diagnosed with dyslexia. It helped me get the treatment I needed, and I finally succeeded.

Shortly after learning to study dyslexia, my father lost his job. He was the sole provider of the house, and I was soon on the street with my mother and two younger brothers. I got a newspaper delivery job, one of the few camps to hire a 12-year-old.

My father found odd jobs to bring money to the family and together we could pay for a two-bedroom apartment to live in. I was the class speaker that school year and kept a perfect attendance record. Like my father, I knew I had to do whatever it took to succeed and thrive.

In high school, I developed an interest in psychology. I have noticed behavior patterns, both in myself and the surrounding people. I asked my son, the therapist, the one who officially diagnosed me with dyslexia if I could work at his clinic during the summers.

He allowed me to intern at his counseling center in my first and last year, and I gained valuable insight into the business side of psychology.

Now I am entering the second year of my psychology course. I intend to complete my baccalaureate degree and get a doctorate in Neuropsychology in the following years. My focus is on psychological testing for children with autism or learning disabilities.

I spent years fighting in school because of an avoidable misdiagnosis. I want to make sure that other children do not face the same struggles in the future.

Why do I deserve this bag? Because I have the passion and determination to become a trusted member of the psychological community. With my education, I can help children get the treatment they need early on, giving them the best chance of finding their own success. You’re not just helping me through college.

You are improving the quality of life for many families to come. I appreciate your consideration and I look forward to building a lasting relationship with your organization.

Example 4: Why do I deserve this scholarship essay (400 words)

It is very important to know who you are. To decide. To show who you are.” – Malala Yousafzai. Tell us three things that are important to you. How did you arrive at this list? Will these things be important to you in ten years? Why?

The three important things to me are my family, being successful, and leaving a legacy. As a result of my past, I keep these three crucial things at the forefront of my mind daily to help myself succeed.

Above all, my family is the most important thing in my life. The meaning of family may differ for everyone, but for me, my family is life.

Success is also very important to me. I hope to accomplish many things in my life, but most importantly, I would like to make my family proud so that they know that all of their sacrifices were worth it. Success to me has a career that I love and allows me to help my family financially. I hope no longer to experience homelessness, poverty, and economic difficulties, as I had in my young life.

Ultimately, however, I would like to grow into someone who is loved and remembered by people who aren’t my immediate family members and my friends. I do not wish to be glorified, but I want to be more than a nonentity in this vast world. I hope that if I can inspire the change that I want to make, I can leave a legacy that continues to influence and shape the landscape that follows me.

After coming to the epiphany that if I died today, nothing would change except for the lives of those extremely close to me, I find myself unwilling to be just another Jane Doe. I want to leave a part of myself behind, whether it is a building or a popular hashtag, that is meaningful and permanent once I die.
